The Trophy seeks to reinforce the ideals of respect, understanding, equality, and shared destiny, using sport as a powerful platform for youth development. While athletic excellence in track and field forms part of the criteria, the award goes beyond performance alone.

It honours teams that demonstrate outstanding character, conduct, sportsmanship, teamwork, and collective responsibility throughout the Championships. In doing so, the RCS Commonwealth Trophy highlights the importance of holistic development where values and integrity stand alongside competitive success.

Through this initiative, the Commonwealth Society of Barbados aims to inspire young athletes to lead not only on the track, but also within their schools and communities.
